Who It’s For

Who can get a free NHS flu jab?

Free for those most at risk from flu. Not on the list? You can still have it privately.

Aged 65 or over

A free NHS flu jab is available if you are 65 or over.

Pregnant

Recommended at any stage of pregnancy to protect you and your baby.

Long-term conditions

Asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart, kidney or liver disease.

Carers

Carers and those receiving Carer’s Allowance.

Weakened immune system

Including people who live with someone immunocompromised.

Not eligible?

You can still have the flu vaccination privately with us for £25.

Common questions

Is the flu jab free?

It is free on the NHS for eligible patients. If you are not eligible, a private flu vaccination is available for £25, from 1 October, as a walk-in or booked appointment.

Do I need an appointment?

You can book a slot or come as a walk-in. We offer flu and COVID vaccinations from 1 October each year, in line with NHS guidance.

How long does it take to work?

The flu vaccine takes around 10 to 14 days to take full effect.

Are there any side effects?

Most people have only mild effects — a slightly raised temperature or a tender arm — that usually settle within a day.
